ATLANTA--Parishioners from All Saints Church in Dunwoody gathered
Nov. 21 to celebrate completion of the parishs fifth Habitat for
Humanity home with a dedication ceremony led by Msgr. R. Donald
Kiernan, pastor.
Construction of the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home, the largest
Habitat house built by the parish, began Oct. 10 and was done on
weekends, with approximately 30 volunteers working each weekend.
Parishioners put on the roof and constructed the wood frame of the
home while professionals installed the electricity and plumbing. The
mother and two children for whom the house was built also helped with
construction. Three generations of the family will live in the home.
On the first day, even Msgr. Kiernan got into the action and
drove several nails into the structure to ensure the proper spirit
would hold to the house. By the end of the day each volunteer had
received an enthusiastic hug of thanks from the owner, said
Habitat steering committee member Ann Baker.
Led by parishioners Sandra and Kirby Baden, the steering committee
raised $45,000 beginning in September to fund the building project. |
