Place of Birth: Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland.

Parents: Patrick and Eilish Lyness.

Siblings: Four sisters, two brothers.

Education: Earned a diploma in philosophy and humanities from St. John’s College in Waterford City, County Waterford, Ireland, 1996.

Work Experience: Worked as a bus driver and a truck driver from 1990-93.

Primary Hobbies and Interests: Tai chi ch uan, soccer and Gaelic football.

Pastoral Internships: Completed internships in Ireland at the Matthew Shea Residential Home for the elderly, 1992; Ballybeg youth group for needy children, 1993-94; the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1995-96 and Ardkeen Hospital. In Atlanta, completed summer internships at St. Pius X Church, Conyers, 1993; St. Francis of Assisi Church, Blairsville, and St. Paul the Apostle Church, Cleveland, 1994; All Saints Church, Dunwoody, 1995; Holy Spirit Church, Atlanta, 1996, and Holy Trinity Church, Peachtree City, 1997.

Particular Ministries of Interest: St. Vincent de Paul Society and food banks, Life Teen and hospital ministry.

First Mass: Saturday, June 27 at St. Peter’s Church, Lurgan.

First Assignment: Parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Kennesaw, a parish of approximately 3,000 families.
