Renew Parishes Asked For Names

ATLANTA--Parishes participating in the RENEW 2000 process are asked to submit the names of their Parish Core Community members by Dec. 15 to Father Richard Kieran, diocesan coordinator, at St. Anna's Church, Monroe.

Those who are on the core communities will begin preparing as a group in January 1998 and names are needed in order to plan for those programs. Rosters may be mailed to Father Kieran at 836 E. Spring St., Monroe, Ga. 30655, faxed to him at (770) 267-0465 or sent by e-mail to RevRAK@aol.com.

Approximately 400 people representing 70 parishes, missions and campus ministries took part in a RENEW 2000 program in November beginning the archdiocesan involvement. RENEW 2000 is a Scripture-based, small faith community process of preparation for the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000.

All parishes, whether or not they were able to participate in November's program, may submit a core community roster, Father Kieran said.

A workshop will be held Friday, Jan. 23 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at St. Ann's Church, Marietta, for Parish Core Community members. This program will be repeated Sat., Jan. 24 from 9 a.m.-noon in English and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in Spanish at St. Pius X High School, Atlanta. This is a site change from earlier announcements regarding the Jan. 24 program.

Parish Core Community members are asked to participate as a group in this January program and in a second program to be held the weekend of Feb. 20-21. Questions may be directed to Father Kieran at (770) 267-7637 or to members of the Archdiocesan Core Community including Mary Ann Fischer at the Department of Catholic Education at (404) 888-7833.
