Holy Spirit Hosts Youth Choir Festival

ATLANTA--Children from six parishes took part in the first archdiocesan Youth Choir Festival Nov. 15, directed by liturgist Clara Dina' Hinjosa from the Cathedral Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dallas.

Over 150 choir members in grades three and up, representing the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta; St. Catherine of Siena, Kennesaw; St. John Neumann, Lilburn; St. Jude the Apostle, Sandy Springs; and Holy Spirit and Holy Cross, Atlanta arrived at Holy Spirit at 11:30 a.m. and spent the day preparing for the 5:30 p.m. Vigil Mass. The choirs that participated also rehearsed the repertoire prior to coming together Nov. 15 for the festival workshops.

Selections included Bach's "Flocks in pastures green abiding," "Panis Angelicus," "Swing Lo, Sweet Chariot," "Lo, He Comes," by John D. Horman and "Cordero de Dios" by Joel Martinson.
