ATLANTA--With the April 24 edition of The Georgia Bulletin,
a new design for the newspaper of the Archdiocese of Atlanta will be
unveiled. At the same time a computerized method of composing and
transmitting pages for publication will be implemented by the staff.
The redesign will include a new flag on the front page incorporating
a cross and the crest of the archdiocese to communicate the Catholic
identity of the newspaper visually along with its name. New typography
and new layout of The Georgia Bulletin by graphic designer
Michael Balfour are intended to enhance the presentation of stories
and information with a clean, readable and visually appealing look.
Pages will also be readily identified as Catholic news of the
archdiocese or news of the Church from the U.S. or abroad. Familiar
sections such as "Georgia Graphics" and movie and television
reviews from a Catholic perspective will continue but with a fresh
appearance. In addition all current advertisements in The Georgia
Bulletin have been redesigned to reflect new column sizes and
typography.
Georgia Bulletin associate editor Kathi Stearns will
implement the redesign using desktop publishing programs.
The redesign of the newspaper and computerization of publication is
a project that has been in process for several years with the
assistance of an advisory board to The Georgia Bulletin made
up of pastors and lay professionals.
Those who have been involved in the process look forward to moving
April 24 off the drawing board and onto the press.
