Joan Lucas Assumes Province Post

ATLANTA--Joan Lucas, a past president of the Atlanta Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, is the new director within the Province of Atlanta for the National Council of Catholic Women. She was installed in October during the general assembly of the NCCW in Portland, Me.

The province director serves as liaison between the national group and its local affiliates. The Atlanta Province also includes Savannah, Charleston, S.C., and Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C. Directors' duties include maintaining contacts with the bishops of each diocese and serving on the NCCW board. Lucas is also national secretary of Women in Community Service (WICS) board.

She attended the Portland meeting along with AACCW members Deirdre Holler, Shirley Radican, Betty Pothier, JoAnn Rieger and Mary Wells.
