Catholic League Protests Local Desecration

ATLANTA--The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights has asked people who are offended by the use of the symbol of the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the logo for the House of Blues to write: The Honorable Bill Campbell, Mayor, City of Atlanta, 55 Trinity Ave., SW, Atlanta 30335.

A number of readers contacted The Georgia Bulletin in response to a letter from the Catholic League drawing attention to the symbol being used by the Atlanta nightclub. Mayor Campbell and other civic officials courted the club to open during the Olympics and are trying to keep it in downtown as a permanent fixture. The league's protest to Mayor Campbell of the desecration of the Sacred Heart symbol had not received an answer as of Aug. 8.

For further information call Richard Perry, president of the Atlanta chapter of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights at (770) 491-7746.
