Weekly Mass Planned For Father Calhoun

ATLANTA--The Atlanta Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women is currently working on a schedule of Masses to be celebrated at the bedside of Father William E. Calhoun, weekly if possible.

Father Calhoun, a priest of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, is a patient at Vencor Hospital in midtown Atlanta. He was critically injured Dec. 7, 1994, in a Fayetteville accident and is paralyzed. At the time he was pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Peachtree City.

Deirdre Holler, AACCW president, most recently appointed Mrs. Billie Monroe as coordinator of the Masses. She will keep a schedule for these Masses at times to accommodate the celebrants' own schedules. Two Masses have been scheduled for May and one for June, Mrs. Holler said.

Mrs. Monroe asks clergymen who want to take part to contact her at: The Monroe House, P.O. Box 1, Smyrna, Ga., 30081-0001. She will contact each respondent.

Mrs. Monroe says spiritual cards can be sent to Father Calhoun at Vencor Hospital, 705 Juniper St., Atlanta, Ga., 30308-1391.

Father Calhoun's mother, Mrs. Henrietta Clay, is a daily visitor to his bedside, according to Mrs. Monroe.
