Reward Offered In Continuing Church Attacks

ATLANTA--The Buckhead Coalition has announced its third reward of $5,000 for church-related vandalism, this time for information leading to arrest and conviction of those responsible for spray painting a building and a statue of Christ at the Cathedral of Christ the King School Holy Thursday.

The graffiti was removed from the statue and school wall the following morning before Good Friday services were held.

"Whether it's a juvenile prank or a terrorist threat, it's an ugly insult to desecrate a church--particularly at its high holy season," Sam Massell, president of the Buckhead Coalition, said in a statement April 5 deploring the incident.

This is the third church, and second Catholic church property, to be vandalized within the past eight weeks in the Buckhead community. The coalition has offered the same reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of those responsible for shooting a stained glass window at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Northside Drive in February and for spray painting Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses on W. Wieuca Road in March.
