Benjamin Beckstine Funeral

BUFORD-The funeral Mass for Benjamin Beckstine, the 1992 Archdiocesan Youth of the Year, was held Dec. 23 at Prince of Peace Church. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery in Eatonton.

Mr. Beckstine, 21, died Tuesday, Dec. 19 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Chesapeake, Va.

A graduate of Jackson County Comprehensive High School in 1992, he entered the Navy that same year and was a gas turbine engine specialist.

While a teen at Prince of Peace Mr. Beckstine was an altar server and eucharistic minister. He also spent hours working with SEARCH, a weekend retreat for young people and assisting with vacation Bible school.

He is survived by his wife, Jodie Jones Beckstine; his mother and father, Karen and Jim Beckstine of Braselton; his siblings, David Beckstine and Eric Beckstine of Braselton and Ida Pfiel of Gainesville; and grandparents, Buddy Beckstine and Harriet Beckstine of Eatonton.
