Parish Honors Father Morrow

CUMMING--Father Richard B. Morrow, pastor, was honored at a celebration marking 40 years of priesthood by parishioners of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Cumming, and friends from around the archdiocese.

The weekend celebration culminated Sunday, May 21, with the Mass followed by a picnic. More than 1,000 adults and children attended.

Father Morrow’s long-time friend, Archbishop Eusebius J. Beltran of Oklahoma City, was homilist. He spoke of how Catholic priests distinguished themselves in the aftermath of the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City.

The Men’s Club preprared one-half ton of chicken for the barbecue which was served by members of the Women’s Guild. Games and entertainment were on the program.

The children of Good Shepherd Parish spent a busy week at Vacation Bible School where the theme was “The Heroes of Our Church.”

For the second consecutive year, Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters Lauretta and Joyce from Pennsylvania directed the youngsters in instruction, crafts, music and games each day from July 10 to 14.
