| ATLANTA--The season of ordinations, which begins in Ireland May 26 and
May 28, will continue in Atlanta June 3 when three men will be ordained to the
priesthood for the archdiocese.
Rev. Mr. Mark Lacey, 29, currently studying in Rome, Italy, Rev. Mr. Serge
Etienne Ward, 28, who just completed studies for a master of divinity degree in
Maryland, and Rev. Mr. Richard Young, 45, also a graduate of Mount St.
Marys in Maryland, will be ordained at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at
the Cathedral of Christ the King, Archbishop John F. Donoghue will be the
ordaining prelate. A reception hosted by the Serra Clubs of Atlanta will follow
the ordination at the Hyland Center.
Rev. Mr. Lacey, an Emory University graduate in business who worked as a
certified public accountant before he entered the seminary, is the son of
Patrick and Mary Lacey of Atlanta. He will celebrate his first Mass at 11:30
a.m. June 4, which is Pentecost Sunday, at Holy Spirit Parish, Atlanta.
Rev. Mr. Ward, the son of Dr. Peter Ward of Paducah, Ky., and Jeanne-Marie
Ward of Stone Mountain, graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelor of science
degree in mechanical engineering. He will celebrate his first Mass at Corpus
Christi Parish, Stone Mountain, at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 4.
Rev. Mr. Young is the son of Polly and the late Dr. Richard Young of Tybee
Island, Ga. A graduate of Emory University with a bachelor of arts degree in
romance languages, he taught English as a second language at the University of
Georgia for 10 years. The son of a Baptist minister, he entered the Catholic
Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program at St.
Josephs Parish, Athens. He will celebrate his first Mass at 11:30 a.m. at
St. Josephs on Sunday, June 4.
Archbishop Donoghue will ordain Rev. Mr. Frank McNamee to the priesthood on
Friday, May 26 at St. Brendans Cathedral in Loughrea, County Galway. He
will ordain Rev. Mr. Joseph Corbett to the priesthood on Sunday, May 28, at the
Church of the Holy Cross, Stradbally, County Waterford. Vocations Director
Msgr. Donald Kenny and a number of clergy and people from the Archdiocese of
Atlanta traveled to Ireland to attend the ordinations.
