Hartwell Pastor Dies

HARTWELL--A Mass of Christian Burial for Father John Kelley was celebrate by Archbishop John F. Donoghue at Sacred Heart Parish in Hartwell on the morning of Feb. 7.

Father Kelley died Feb. 2 at Anderson Memorial hospital in Anderson, S.C. where he had been critically ill since mid-January.

Father Kelley, who was 72 years old, was a former pastor of St. Anna’s Church in Monroe, and a former parochial vicar at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Atlanta. He entered religious life as a Trappist brother at St. Benedict’s Monastery in Snowmass, Colo., and also lived at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit community in Conyers where he was ordained a priest.
