Father McCormack Suffers Heart Attack

ATLANTA--Father Andrew McCormack, SM, pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Atlanta, suffered a heart attack Thursday, Jan 12.

Father McCormack was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. After the appropriate evaluation period, medication was used to attempt to resolve his condition.

On Jan. 17 Father McCormack underwent an angioplasty which, according to Father Eugene Hughes, SM, parochial vicar at Our Lady of Assumption, appears to have been successful.

Father Hughes said that Father McCormack expects to be out of the hospital and back in the parish on Jan. 19.

“He is in good spirits and resting comfortably,” Father Hughes said. “he has been heartened by the good wishes of the parishioners at OLA and his friends.”

Father Hughes confirmed that Father McCormack will not be in the office at the parish for a while.

“He has to take it easy for a while,” Father Hughes said. “This story seems to have a happy ending.”
