| ATLANTA A hospital report on Father William Calhoun on Dec. 19
indicated that he is awake and alert and responsive to those who are with him.
A spokeswoman for Georgia Baptist Medical Center, where Father Calhoun is in
surgical intensive care, said his progress has been good in the past week and
that in the future it is expected he will be transferred to a rehabilitation
facility.
Father Calhoun, who was critically injured in a Dec. 7 automobile accident
in Fayetteville, has been evaluated by the Shepherd Spinal Center, which
specializes in work with spinal cord injuries and paralysis. At the time of the
initial evaluation it was determined that a move was premature.
Holy Trinity parish in Peachtree City, where Father Calhoun is pastor, is
continuing to offer special prayers for his recovery as are parishes throughout
the archdiocese.
