CAM Receives Honor

Capitol Area Mosaic (CAM) has been named winner of a 1994 J.C. Penney/United Way Golden Rule Award, a recognition of the organization’s outstanding service and commitment to the community. The award was presented to CAM representative Pat Walsh at the thirteenth annual volunteer recognition luncheon April 22 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta.

CAM, an ecumenical outreach to residents of the Capitol Homes area of Atlanta, was among 125 local groups and individuals nominated for this year’s awards. The organization placed first in the group division and received a $1,000 donation towards its social, educational and athletic programs in the Capitol neighborhood.

Archbishop John F. Donoghue is an honorary chair of CAM’s 1994 fundraiser, “Holy Smoke,” to be held November 3 at the Georgian Terrace Hotel. The event brings together members of Atlanta’s religious community, including priests and Religious of the archdiocese, who cook their favorite dishes for hungry guests to support the CAM effort.
