UGA Center Race Raises $2,000

A home for troubled teens received a boost from Catholic students at the University of Georgia recently. The outreach committee of the Catholic Center at the university sponsored a Human Race 5K Run/Walk Feb. 19. Approximately $2,000 was donated to the Athens Detention Home for troubled adolescents as a result of the race.

The race attracted 315 participants and 22 local merchants donated 35 prizes for the winners. Runners ranged in age from 20 to over 65.

A standing committee at the Catholic Center, outreach members sponsor activities promoting community involvement with the alienated and other peace and justice events. The committee is headed by Pat Dwinnell, Race coordinators were Margaret Przybyla and Bob Ratajczak.
