Visitation Nun Makes Vows

Sister Shirley Green pronounced temporary vows at the Monastery of the Visitation in Snellville on June 6.

The native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana will be known in religion as Sister Mary of the Sacred Heart. Father Michael Hogan, chaplain at the monastery, was delighted to preside at the ceremony, which took place during the community Mass and was open to the public. The temporary vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience are taken for three years before solemn profession is made.

The Religious of the Visitation of Holy Mary belong to a cloistered monastic order founded by St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane Frances de Chantel. The Snellville community has 14 members.
