Chaloux Ordained Deacon

Joseph James Chaloux, II, was ordained a transitional deacon for the Atlanta archdiocese at an April 24 liturgy at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore.

Bishop Robert Mulvee of the Wilmington, Del. diocese, was the main celebrant for the Mass. Reverend Mr. Patrick Kingery, transitional deacon studying for Atlanta, was deacon of the word. Steven Siler, an Atlanta seminarian, was an acolyte.

Father Don Kenny, vocations director for the archdiocese and Father Frank Forts, parochial vicar at St. John the Evangelist in Hapeville, attended the ordination along with Mrs. Dorothy Chaloux, mother of the new deacon. She resides in Florence, S.C.

Reverend Mr. Chaloux was homilist the following day, Sunday, April 25, at Masses in St. Ann’s Church, Baltimore. This summer he will minister in St. Joseph’s parish, Athens.
