Rita McInerney, who has been on the staff of The Georgia Bulletin
since April 1985, has been appointed associate editor.
Her journalism background includes 18 years as wire editor of the
Globe-Times in Bethlehem, Pa., the first woman to serve in this position. She
also wrote general news and feature articles during 23 years on the afternoon
daily.
Prior to that she was womens editor of the Times Herald in
Norristown, Pa., and the Patriot News in Harrisburg, Pa.
The recipient of several writing awards from the Pennsylvania
Newspaper Publishers Assn. and the Pennsylvania Womens Press Association,
she wrote the centennial history of her home parish, Our Mother of Consolation
in Philadelphia, and was a free-lance writer before moving to Atlanta in 1984.
