Christ The King School Gets Its Award

The National School of Excellence award was presented to Christ the King School by Mrs. Patricia Hines, special assistant to Dr. Gary L. Bauer, Undersecretary of Education, at a ceremony held Nov. 19 at the school.

The award recognized Christ the King as an exemplary elementary school in the Department of Education’s first nation-wide elementary school recognition program. Sister Jean Liston, G.N.S.H., the school principal, accepted the award. In her talk she focused on the unique dimension of the school’s philosophy and the strength of the Christian environment which enables students to become their best selves.

Archbishop Thomas A. Donnellan gave the opening prayer, and Msgr. John F. McDonough, administrator of the Cathedral of Christ the King, spoke.

A reception given by the Home and School Association in the Hyland Center followed the ceremony
