A new director of communications and a new editor of the
archdiocesan newspaper have been named.
The new director of communications, Father Peter A. Dora, has been
a priest in the Atlanta archdiocese since 1972 and has served in a number of
parishes, including the Cathedral of Christ the King, St. Josephs in
Athens, and currently, Holy Spirit in Atlanta.
His previous work in communications includes two years as editor
of the Georgia Bulletin and director of communications from 1974 to 1976 and an
interest in radio journalism that began while he was in the seminary. A native
of the South who grew up in Tennessee, Father Dora has worked since 1980 as a
part of the Metropolitan Tribunal, the department where marriage annulment
cases are considered. Since March 1984 he has been presiding judge of the
Tribunal and will continue to hold that position, while also serving as
director of communications.
The new editor of The Georgia Bulletin, Gretchen Keiser, has been
associate editor of the paper for six years. Her background in journalism began
with a family connection as her father, Raymond Keiser, worked for the
Associated Press for over 30 years. After a stint in publishing, Miss Keiser
worked for a small daily newspaper in Chelsea, Massachusetts and then studied
journalism at the Columbia University School of Journalism in New York, where
she received a masters degree in 1975.
Work as a reporter for a Gannett-owned daily newspaper in White
Plains, New York, a suburb north of New York City, eventually led to posts as
night city editor and as one of several bureau chiefs of the paper, The
Reporter Dispatch. She left the paper in July, 1979 and moved to Atlanta, where
she was able to begin work in Catholic journalism in July 1980 at The Georgia
Bulletin. She belongs to St. Thomas More parish in Decatur and to a regional
prayer community, Servants of the Lord, based at Corpus Christi parish in Stone
Mountain. |
