Birthright, Inc. this year presented its Leo Zuber Service Award to Atlanta attorney Dennis Mackin, a long-time supporter of Birthright who has served for many years on its advisory board.

Mackin, a Notre Dame graduate, was assistant district attorney for the Atlanta Judicial Circuit from 1971-74. He is now in private practice.

The Zuber Award is presented in memory of the late Leo Zuber, former Director of Planning for the Department of Housing and Urban Development who was Birthright’s first male volunteer when the organization was the only pregnancy service in the southeast. He served as treasurer of Birthright for nine years.

Birthright, Inc. is a totally voluntary, non-profit service organization which works to complete confidence with women and families faced with unplanned and unwanted pregnancies.

Last year’s recipient of the award was Mary Stimmel.
