Print Issue: February 17, 1983

Frank Ellis Named 'Citizen Of The Year'

The Douglas County Chamber of Commerce recently named St. John Vianney parishioner Frank Ellis as 1982 Citizen of the Year.

Ellis, the Director of Community Relations and Volunteer Services for Douglas General Hospital, received the award at the chamber’s annual banquet held at Parkway Regional Hospital this month. He was recognized for his wide and varied participation in numerous community causes, including the Cancer Society, the Douglas County Retardation Assoc., United Way, PTA, Kiwanis and the Metro Volunteer Action Centers.

Ellis also writes a weekly column for the Douglas County Sentinel and shares newsworthy items with readers of The Georgia Bulletin.

Accepting the award, Frank Ellis observed, “I don’t think God likes bashful people. He gives us certain talents to use, and if we don’t use them, we’re cheating Him as well as ourselves. I feel like I have just been using my God-given talents.
