Dr. Richard Johnson Joins Schools Staff

Dr. Richard Johnson has joined the staff of the Office of Catholic Schools as Assistant Superintendent for Administration, Development and Finance.

A parishioner of St. Lawrence Church in Lawrenceville, Dr. Johnson previously served in the central administrative offices of the Gwinnett County school system and on the Archdiocesan Board of Education.

His new responsibilities will include working with pastors and principals to establish educational endowment programs in parishes with schools, and gathering and interpreting statistical data on elementary schools for long range planning.

He will also serve as the Office of Catholic Schools’ representative to local, state and federal educational agencies.

Dr. Johnson is a native Georgian who earned his doctorate in education from the University of Georgia. He and his wife have seven children.

Dr. Johnson will be working closely with Sister Joan McCann, O.P., Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, Curriculum and Instruction, and with Sister Roberta Schmidt, C.S.J., Superintendent.
