Father Kelly Assumes Post

Father James P. Kelly, pastor of Queen of Angels Church in Thomson, has been named Priest Secretary of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council by Archbishop Thomas A. Donnellan.

Father Kelly has had wide experience in parish council development across the archdiocese. The Archdiocesan Pastoral Council that he will be serving has only recently been reconstituted. The Council held its first meeting last May after a seven-year hiatus. Father Kelly was part of a team that assisted in its reorganization and was instrumental in the recently completed Archdiocesan priorities Consultation. Working with Monsignor Jerry E. Hardy, Father Kelly designed the rating instruments that were used to weigh and decide a priority sequence for various needs of the archdiocese. He also served as a resource person during the consultative process.

Commenting on the new appointment, Father Kelly said, "I am happy to have the opportunity to serve the people of the archdiocese in this way. The Archdiocesan Pastoral Council has a lot of exciting potential as a forum for listening to the people of the archdiocese and for planning our ministry to respond to the needs the people identify."
