Silver Jubilee For Sister Susan
|
Sister Susan Bradley, principal of St. Thomas More School in Decatur is celebrating her Silver Jubilee this year. Archbishop Donnellan celebrated Mass on Saturday, May 14, to commemorate her 25 years as a Sister of Notre Dame. A reception followed sponsored by the parish. Sister Susan will be leaving St. Thomas More at the end of this school year, where she has served as principal for the past seven years. She will be sorely missed at the parish and school but her hard work and accomplishments will be long remembered. Sister Susan entered the convent at Ilchester, Maryland, on August 17, 1952 and made her final vows as a Sister of Notre Dame on July 30, 1960. She received a degree in education from Trinity College in Washington, DC, and a M. Ed. Degree in Education Administration from Georgia State University. Sister has taught at four different Catholic middle and junior high schools between 1955 and 1970, before coming to St. Thomas More. Among Sister Susans hard work and accomplishments, was the upgrading of the school curriculum and the securing of accreditation for the school. Sister also instituted the innovative non-graded system now in use at the school. Her new assignment will be as a math and science teacher in Florence, S.C. |
