Bachelor's Degree For Eddie Grier, Jr.
|
In 1973, a four-year scholarship to Duquesne University commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Holy Ghost Fathers and Brothers in the United States was awarded Eddie A. Grier, Jr., then a senior at St. Joseph High School in Atlanta. This spring, on May 7, in commencement ceremonies on the Pittsburgh, Pa., campus, Grier received his Bachelors Degree in business administration. He has accepted a position with Ernst & Ernst, an accounting firm in downtown Pittsburgh. Most of my professors in the School of Business at Duquesne were working for other companies in addition to teaching and they brought a wealth of experience into the classrooms, Eddie observed. I could feel them molding us from the time we entered as freshmen, instilling practical business sense along with business theory. Grier, active in the intramural sports program at Duquesne throughout his four years on campus, also tutored introductory accounting students and assisted with activities of the Student Government Association. The Centennial Scholarships of the Congregation of the Holy Ghost to Duquesne were established to provide preparation for black Catholic students with potential for lay leadership in the church. Covering costs of tuition, room, board and books, the scholarships were made available to qualified students in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Texas. Grier is the son of Mr. And Mrs. Eddie A. Grier, Atlanta. |
