All Saints Church, First Mass in Dunwoody

Parish

The Catholic community of Dunwoody was officially established as a parish family on April 11, 1977 by Archbishop Thomas A. Donnellan.

On May 7 and 8, Masses will be offered at the Exchange Place office complex, Building 2, Suite 2160, on Peachford Road. This will be the temporary home of All Saints during the planning and construction stages of the new parish complex which will be located at Mt. Vernon Road.

The Mass schedule is as follows: Saturday evening, 5; Sunday morning, 7:30, 8:30, 10, and 11:30. The Corpus Christi choir will sing the first Mass to be celebrated on Saturday, May 7 at 5 p.m.

During the past few weeks, the members of the parish have been feverishly preparing for the opening date. Women members have been sewing altar linens and baptismal bibs, and the men have become involved in setting up and preparing the PA system and altar area.

Most of the activity thus far has been centered at the rectory where daily Masses are being offered and where the office staff is coordinating the paper work. The offices have been built in the rectory basement, and this seems to be the focal point of parish life.

A planning meeting for volunteers who wish to serve as lectors, altar boys, ushers, members of the choir, organists, song leaders, and extraordinary ministers will be coordinated by the liturgical committee and held on Thursday, May 5 at 8 p.m. at the quarters of the Exchange Place office complex.

On May 15, Archbishop Donnellan will offer the 10 a.m. Mass and will bless the temporary home of All Saints.

The All Saints pastoral board consisting of the building committee, education committee, liturgical committee, ladies guild, youth committee, and publicity and public relations committee has been busy outlining their goals for the parish family for the beginning months.

For further information, call Father Joseph J. Beltran or the parish staff at the rectory, 393-3255, which is located at 2332 Sandell Drive.
