Father Walter F. Foley Ordained At Cathedral

Father Walter F. Foley was ordained by Archbishop Thomas A. Donnellan at the Cathedral of Christ the King on Saturday, October 23.

Father Foley, a native of Princeton, N.J., was formerly a Holy Cross Brother for 26 years. He served for 11 years as a missionary in New Ghanda, East Africa.

Prior to that time, he taught school in Indianapolis, Ind., and in Flushing, N.Y.

Father Foley came to Atlanta in 1973 and was assigned to St. John the Evangelist parish in Hapeville. He has also been assigned at Our Lady of Lourdes and at the Cathedral of Christ the King, where he is currently serving. He is a graduate of St. Meinrad’s in Indiana and of St. Edward’s in Austin, Tex.

Father Foley celebrated his first Mass on Sunday at the Cathedral. Parishioners and friends were present for the occasion which was followed by a reception in the parish center.

Next month the new priest will begin his assignment as assistant pastor at Holy Family parish in East Marietta.
