Right To Life Group Hits Carter

The Georgia Right to Life Committee has called for pro-life Democrats to reject the anti-life stand of presidential candidate Jimmy Carter, and has urged other Democratic candidates to repudiate Carter and the Party’s pro-abortion plank. The plank reads as follows:

“We fully recognize the religious and ethical nature of the concerns which many Americans have on the subject of abortion. We feel, however, that it is undesirable to attempt to amend the United States Constitution to overturn the Supreme Court decision in this area.”

Speaking for the group, Mrs. Cheryl Bowman stated, “The Democratic Party has now placed itself officially on record as supporting the present abortion-on-demand situation where over one and one-half million of America’s children are being killed by abortion each year.

“By adopting this plank, the so-called Party of the People has disowned millions of pro-life Democrats across the Nation. Unless Carter changes his stand to support of a Human Life Amendment protecting the lives of unborn children, pro-life Democrats will have no alternative but to look to the Republican Party to find a presidential candidate who values human life. To support Carter and embrace the abortion plank would be anti-life, anti-family and a betrayal to the principals upon which both the Democratic Party and the United States were founded.”
