Dr. Howard M. McMahon Education Board Chairman

Dr. Howard M. McMahon of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish assumes the duties of chairman of the Archdiocesan Board of Education on July 1. Dr. McMahon was made chairman-elect last year.

Dr. McMahon has served on the Our Lady of Assumption Board of Education for four years, three of them as chairman. He joined the archdiocesan board in January 1974.

He is largely responsible for the improved budget review procedure developed by the Archdiocesan Board of Education over the last two years.

Dr. McMahon, professor of aerospace engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, was graduated from the University of Santa Clara and received his Ph.D. degree in aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology.

The McMahons moved to Atlanta in 1964 and have resided in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. Howard and Fran McMahon have five children.

Dr. McMahon succeeds Robert Reilman, who continues to serve on the board as the immediate past chairman. The new chairman-elect is Sister Mary Ann Mulligan, CSJ, who teaches music at Georgia State University.
