Management theory was the topic of a presentation
by Dr. R. E. Green at a recent meeting of the Atlanta Senate of Priests.
Fifty-three priests from the archdiocese gathered last week in Suwanee, GA, for
a senate meeting and dinner.
Father Liam Tuffy, who is leaving for work in
Latin America, was honored by his brother priests at the evening banquet.
Dr. Green, who delivered the management talk, is a
professor of management at Georgia Institute of Technology. His major field for
teaching and research includes Planning and Decision Theory and Organizational
Analysis. In addition to his teaching in the College of Industrial Management,
Dr. Green is active in consulting and executive development work with industry
and government.
Much of this work has been done through the
Department of Continuing Education of Georgia Tech and the Institute of
Government of the University of Georgia.
The presentation to the priests centered around
the need to set objectives for an organization and to determine the means
necessary to attain the objectives. Archbishop Donnellan encouraged the priests
to consider the applications of such planning to the work of the Church.
