De Paul Society Opens New Day Care Center

The Saint Vincent de Paul Society dedicated its second child development center at 259 North Avenue last Sunday.

The Society has been working in the Bedford Pine area for approximately six years and this most recent dedication was a result of the cooperative effort of the community and Joseph Flanagan, the executive secretary of the local council, and his staff.

Mrs. Diane Stovall, the director of the center, explained that the facility would be open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. each workday for the benefit of the parents in the community.

In his remarks to an estimated 75 guests, Archbishop Donnellan thanked Flanagan for the presence of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in the Bedford Pines area and for the Society’s vigilant care for the poor.

The archbishop pointed out that the value of this day care center expressed his thinking that the “welfare of the individual child was the welfare of the community at large.”
