Edward W. Killorin, Atlanta attorney, was recently honored at
Spring Hill College, Mobile, Ala. and received the Karopczyc Award, given in
recognition of outstanding service by a young alumnus of the Jesuit College,
which was founded in 1830.
Killorin, who is a member of Cathedral parish, resides with his
wife and three sons. A native of Savannah, he is national president of the
Spring Hill College alumni association is active both in fund raising and in
student recruitment for the college, the oldest Jesuit college in the South.
According to Killorin, over 100 Spring Hill alumni reside in metro
Atlanta and the possibility of an active local chapter is a present
consideration. The college has some 6,000 alumni throughout the nation.
In the area of national fund raising, Killorin described the
present plan for a Challenge Fund, matching contributions by
sponsors. Last year some 1,200 alumni donated $73,000 to the College. Killorin
has his eye on 1,500 contributors to the alumni fund this year via the matching
funds approach, aiming for $10,000 increase over last years tally.
Also active in recruiting students for Spring Hill, Killorin
relies on word of mouth, school contact, parents, other alumni. He has a
comprehensive directory of information on the college at his office in Atlanta.
The information, he says, is always available to anyone. |
