What I Have Seen and Heard - Archbishop Gregory's Weekly Column

Print Issue: November 25, 1971

If You Can Dream It You Can Do It

(This space each week will reflect follow-up progress on the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council's "Operation Eye Opener." It will highlight progress in various parishes as the programs take shape and are implemented.)

The Archdiocesan Pastoral Council Priority Program continues to gain momentum throughout the Archdiocese. To date, 13 of 35 parishes have one or more of the action programs functioning or developing.

Recent Developments

Our Lady of Lourdes has shown strong community orientation and adapted the family-to-family food program to meet a neighborhood situation near the church site. Plans are being made to set up an after-school food facility for neighborhood children. In addition, the parishioners decided jobs were a top priority in the parish area and are working on ways to aid a job-training program at John L. Hope School.

Saint Luke's in Dahlonega held a meeting on November 17th marking their adoption of the Rural Food Program.

Up-Coming Events

Sacred Heart, Griffin, will hold a rural food meeting on December 1st.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Carrollton is having a parish meeting December 1st. Sister Janet Valente will be on hand to point out ways programs can be tailored to the parish's needs.

Queen of Angels in Thompson will hold a December 2 meeting with Father Jerry E. Hardy on hand to offer suggestions for program modification and adoption.
