(This space each week will reflect follow-up
progress on the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council's "Operation Eye Opener." It will
highlight progress in various parishes as the programs take shape and are
implemented.)
Assumption To Meet Nov. 7
To drum up interest and participation in the
"Operation Eye Opener" programs, Father Paul Burkort, pastor of Our Lady of the
Assumption Parish, has called a special parish-wide meeting of all parishioners
to mobilize the parish's effort. The meeting will be held Sunday, November 7, 7
p.m., in the school cafeteria.
Cathedral Moves Ahead
Meeting on three successive Wednesday nights,
Cathedral parishioners and members of the Parish Council have been hammering
out details for setting up a day care facility in the parish.
Following the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council's
urging to work collaboratively with other churches and synagogues, the
Cathedral group has entered into discussion with Covenant Presbyterian Church
several blocks away for the joint use and sponsorship of such a facility.
Details are not final, but the Parish Council was
dealing with the matter at its meeting November 3.
Holy Cross Sets Dec. 3 Deadline
Holy Cross Parish has set Dec. 3 as the date for a
full-scale parish meeting to secure parish-wide involvement in the "Eye Opener"
programs. Subcommittees of the Parish's Community Action Committee have been
meeting and will be presenting practical adaptations of the programs for their
parish.
Corpus Christi in Stone Mountain and St. Jude's in Sandy Springs
also have meetings scheduled for this week.
