Father Naughton Ordained

Louis Naughton was ordained to the priesthood in Galway Cathedral, Ireland, on Sunday July 11th by Most Reverend Michael Browne, Bishop of Galway, for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Among the concelebrating priests at the Ordination Mass was Father P. McCormick of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Hapeville.

Son of Mrs. Christina and the late James Naughton, the new priest was born in Galway in 1937 and he received his primary, secondary, and part of his University education in his hometown. Further studies were pursued at the University of Leeds.

After working for some years as an engineer in Galway, he began his theological studies for the priesthood, as a candidate for the Atlanta archdiocese, in October 1967. For this specific purpose, he was a student at the Theology Faculty of the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, while residing at the American College in Louvain; the American College is a Major Seminary of the U.S. Bishops' Conference and is located on the campus of the University proper.

Father Naughton has been assigned to Holy Cross, Chamblee, where he will shortly take up his duties.
