Smyrna Churches Swap Discussion Activities

A group of adults from Norton Park Baptist Church in Smyrna attended a discussion group at St. Thomas Catholic Church, led by John Hachmeister and directed by Sister Elizabeth.

Films giving a synopsis of the Catholic and Baptist faiths were shown. This visit was prompted by the CYO juniors' previous attendance at the Baptist church.

The children enjoyed the friendliness of their youth, and the service conducted by Reverend Hyde.

Christian unity and mutual respect through exchange of Christian Doctrine was the theme.

On Thursday, Feb. 18, the adult discussion group will meet with the Women's Liberation group. Several discussion groups have been formed, and others are in the process.

The adult C.A.R.E. group is studying the Eucharistic Mass and participating in assembling a Mass, using the Bible, records, hymns and spoken word, which can be adapted to suit special Eucharistic celebrations.

The 6 p.m. Mass on Sunday is led by the CYO youth, with guitars and folk singing, under the direction of Sister Damian.

CYO plans a talent show, spaghetti dinner, plus entertainment, a visit to The Temple, and its own newspaper.
