Five Priests Named Budget Committeemen

Five priests of the archdiocese have been appointed to the Archdiocesan Budget Preparation Committee.

Archbishop Thomas A. Donnellan named Monsignor John F. McDonough, Monsignor Michael J. Regan, Father Joseph J. Beltran, Father James J. Maciejewski and Father Paul B. Burkort, S.M., to the newly-formed group.

The purpose of the committee will be to bring the pastors and associate pastors of the archdiocese into closer touch with the preliminary work-up of the Archdiocesan Budget.

At the Deanery budget hearings last spring, a group of pastors voiced the opinion that such a committee could render an important service. Responding to the suggestion, Archbishop Donnellan set up the committee as preparations for the 1971-72 budget get underway.

The first task of the committee will be to take the 1969-1970 budget and evaluate the procedures by which it was developed in an attempt to make possible corrective improvements.

The results of this study will then be forwarded to the Chancery office staff and the Archdiocesan Finance Council. Deadline for the committee’s first task is November 1, 1970.
