Emory Meet To Discuss Ed Crisis

“Meeting the Crisis of Church Related Colleges,” is the topic for a regional institute on higher education to be held in Atlanta Aug. 2-4 sponsored by The Division of Higher Education of the United Methodist Church.

Dean Bond Fleming of Emory’s Oxford College is chairman of the Institute committee.

“Our church related colleges face many problems today,” Dean Fleming said. “This is an excellent opportunity for us to get together to seek some solutions.” The three day program will begin with an address by Dr. Lee C. McDonald, professor of government and dean of Promona College. Other speakers and resource persons include Dr. John C. Stephens, dean of Emory College; Dr. Daniel C. Thompson, chairman of the social science department of Dillard University.

Dr. E. Lee McLean, vice president for development, Northwestern University; Dr. Richard N. Bender, director, Department of Educational Institutions, United Methodist Church; and the Rev. Dan Brewster, executive director of the Ga. United Methodist Commission on Higher Education and Campus Ministry.

The meeting will be held at Hilton Inn at the Atlanta Airport. It is being held in cooperation with Clark College and Emory University.

Church related colleges across the region have been invited to attend.
