Three Appointed To School Board

Three new members were appointed to the archdiocesan board of education by Archbishop Thomas A. Donnellan.

Robert Gaines, Radnor Paquette, and Reverend William Hoffman were named to three-year terms to the board that makes education policy for the entire educational program of the archdiocese.

The three replace Robert Ballentine, Dr. Harding Young, and Reverend R. Donald Kiernan, whose terms expired.

Gaines is counseling supervisor in the instructional department of the DeKalb Board of Education. He formerly was principal of Hamilton High School. Paquette retired last spring from the Department of Civil Engineering at Georgia Tech.

Reverend Hoffman is the pastor of St. John Vianney parish in Austell, and was at one time principal of Drexel Catholic High school.

The chairman of the board this year is Dr. Norman Berry.

The new members will be installed at the board’s first meeting which will be held in the board room of the new Catholic Center, 756 W. Peachtree St., N.W., at 7:30 P.M., Sept.10.

The archdiocesan board of education meets on the second Wednesday of each month and all meeting are open to the public.
