Cartersville Church Gets 2 La Salettes

The Revs. Peter Thomas McKeown and Joseph John Loftus are the two La Salette fathers who will be taking over the parish of St. Francis of Assisi at Cartersville this summer.

Father McKeown, 40, was born in Worcester, Mass., and attended St. Charles College in Cantonsville, Md., and La Salette Seminary in Ipswich, Mass.

He has been a professor and prefect in the order’s apostolic schools in Hartford and Cheshire, Conn., and was assistant pastor for five years of the order’s mission in London, England.

Father Loftus also is 40. He was born in Jessup, Pa., and attended the order’s seminaries in Milford, Iowa, and Ipswich.

He has been a prefect in the Hartford Apostolic School and also was assistant pastor of the London mission for five years. He has been assistant pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Hartford and since 1964 has preached missions and retreats throughout the U.S.
