2 Catholics On Council For Home

Two Catholics are among four additional directors elected to the council of Villa International Atlanta, Inc., (VIA) a newly incorporated organization whose aim is to provide a “home” and services for overseas visitors while they are in Atlanta.

The four new directors bring the total to ten on the council, VIA’s governing body. Elected at the May 22 meeting in Atlanta were Father Jerry Hardy and layman William Endres, both of the Archdiocese of Atlanta; Dr. Solon Couch of the United Methodist Church, North Georgia conference, and George M. Stenhouse, Presbyterian layman representing the Synod of Georgia of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.

Each member of the council represents his denominational affiliation. Six others named last month were the Rev. Robert L. McBath, pastor of East Point Presbyterian Church, who was also elected president of the council; the Rev. Waldeman H. Lefstead, of the Southeastern Synod of the Lutheran Church of America; the Rev. Edward A. Driscoll, United Church of Christ; Dr. John J. Deifell, representing the Presbyterian U.S. Synod of Georgia; Mrs. Newton B. Fowler, the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ; and the Rev. Edward M. Brown of the United Church of Christ.

A building for Villa International Atlanta, not yet constructed, is expected to be located near the National Communicable Diseases Center on the outskirts of Atlanta.
