Charities Drive, Special Gift Phase Draws Good Support

Last Sunday saw the real beginning of the Archdiocesan Charities and Development Fund Drive in all the parishes. The drive, which is a one-day cash drive, had built into it a special gifts phase. This phase enables those able to donate more than the minimum, an opportunity to do so. It is considered most important that this phase is accomplished successfully in all parishes.

A sub-committee has been appointed in all the parishes to take care of this phase. This committee has been approaching all special gift prospects and first reports have been received. The indication is that this phase will be most successful.

A special not of this portion of the cash drive is the use of the brochure which has been produced to inform donors of the needs. Each donor will receive a brochure and also have the needs specified by the pastor and his committee Archbishop Donnellan, speaking of this whole drive, said: “Success in this phase, means success for the whole drive. The special gifts phase will lay a solid foundation for the main part of the drive on March 9.”

The parish committees are requesting that all gifts be sent to the parish. Checks should be made payable to the parish.

On March 9, every wage earner will be asked for a minimum gift of $25.00. The parish chairmen feel that the best assistance can be given to them by volunteers coming forward to work and by all others staying at home on March 9. The cooperation of all in this matter is going to be requested on many occasions during the coming weeks.
