Newman Club, New Chaplain At Ga. Tech

The Rev. Christian Malone, O.F.M., has been named the new chaplain at Georgia Tech, succeeding Father Alvin Matthews, O.F.M.

Father Malone, a member of the Franciscan Order, is a native of Newton, Massachusetts, and served as chaplain of the Newman Center at the University of Georgia, Athens, prior to coming to Atlanta.

The Franciscan Friar attended Boston College before entering the Novitiate of St. Bonaventure in Patterson, N.J., then he completed his college studies at St. Anthony’s Seminary, Butler, N.J., and Holy Name College in Washington, D.C.

Father Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a master of education degree in guidance counseling.

Following ordination on September 8, 1956, Father Chris was stationed for one year at St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston. This was followed by other assignments in New York City, and the St. Thomas More Center at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, S.C.
