The Department of the Air Force, on the recommendation of Lt. Col.
Leonard J. Jindrich, Aerospace Education Instructor of Marist, has chosen
Father Vincent Brennan as the recipient of the Air Force Reserve Officers
Training Corps Outstanding Service Award.
The spirit and intent of the reward is recognition for prolonged
outstanding support by an influential official. Normally recommendations are
only considered for three or more years of outstanding service by college deans
and presidents.
The recommendation for the award to be given to Father Brennan on
Oct. 27, 1968, was carefully screened by the AFJROTC Awards Board. The award
singles out Father Brennans outstanding service to the Air Force and its
ROTC program.
The citation accompanying the giving of the award will read:
During the period between 1965-1968, Father Brennan contributed
immeasurably to the AFJROTC program. His experience as secretary of the
National Association of Military Schools was utilized at several conferences at
the Air University and Air Force Headquarters pertaining to the establishment
of the AFJROTC units in secondary schools. Many of his recommendations
concerning the salary schedules of the retired personnel on duty in the program
were adopted. At Marist School, Father Brennan made superior facilities
available to the program and caused it to be integrated into the school
curriculum with a minimum of confusion. His enthusiastic support of the program
influenced the other faculty members to welcome the program and accept the
AFJROTC personnel as full-fledged members of the faculty. Father Brennan has
always made time available for ceremonies that publicized the program. During
the time that the AFJROTC program has been at Marist School, Father Brennan has
never missed an opportunity to promote the program and has never failed to
indicate other than his complete support for it.
The award will be presented during the Cadet Officer Commissioning
Ceremony at Marist Oct. 27, 1968. Father Brennan who is presently stationed at
Lafayette, La., will return to Marist for the ceremony. On this occasion the
1968-1969 Cadet Officers will officially receive their commissions and assume
their positions as officers of the Marist Cadet Corps. |
