Atlantan Is Ordained

Father Augustine Irvin, O.S.B., was ordained a priest at the Benedictine Abbey of St. Leo by Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley, Bishop of Saint Augustine, Florida, this week.

Father Augustine is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Irvin, Jr. The family attends Christ the King Cathedral. He is the coordinator of the foreign language division of Saint Leo College Summer Institute.

He came to St. Leo in 1959, studied two years at St. Bernard Seminary, Ala., and completed the final two years of college at St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minn., in 1963. He did his theological studies at Saint Bede School of Theology, Peru, Ill.

Father Augustine will celebrate a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving at the Cathedral of Christ the King, at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 21. A reception will follow the Mass in the Cathedral Center.
