Fr. Kiernan Named To IACP Position

The Rev. R. Donald Kiernan, pastor, St. Anthony Parish has been appointed associate chaplain of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, it was announced by Newton, Mass., Police Chief Phillip Purcell, newly elected president of the IACP.

This is the second consecutive year Father Kiernan has been appointed to this office. He received the appointment in 1964 from Atlanta’s chief, Herbert Jenkins.

The association claims a membership of 5,700 members from 66 governments of the free world, including representatives from countries in Southeast Asia.

In addition to this duty Father Kiernan is also chaplain of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.

Father Kiernan last attended the annual national convention of the organization held in Miami.
