Delta Employees Give Check To Holy Family Hospital
|
Sister M. Theophane, administrator of the Holy Family Hospital building program, has received a gift of $2,400 from the Delta Employees Fair Share Plan Committee. Mr. Neal Goodfellow, president, told Sister M. Theophane in presenting the check that he felt honored to represent his group in making this contribution to the new and badly needed Holy Family Hospital. The Holy Family Hospital which is now under construction at Fairburn and Sewell Roads, S.W., is scheduled to open in the fall of this year. It will be a general private hospital serving Southwest Atlanta, Douglas and South Cobb Counties. Within this area there is a population of approximately 225,000 people who prior to this time have not had a local hospital of their own. This initial construction provides 128 beds with general diagnostic and treatment facilities. Plans call for an ultimate 250 hospital beds with additional auxiliary services including a maternity pavilion and a nursing home. The 90 acre site on which the hospital is located will lie just west of the perimeter expressway and midway between Cascade and Gordon Roads. It is a wooded country area that lends itself well to future expansion. The Medical Mission Sisters will administer this health facility. About eighteen sisters will form the skeleton staff supplying personnel in the administrative, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and dietary departments. They will live in the home formerly owned by he Collier-Griffin family at 621 Fairburn Road, a short walk from the hospital.
